Features of GMT Fiberglass Board

(1) Non-toxic and Odorless: When automotive interior components made from lightweight GMT are kept at 90°C for 16 hours, they do not release any odors or toxic gases, ensuring they are harmless to human health.

(2) Energy-Saving: Its lightweight nature helps reduce the overall weight of a vehicle, leading to lower energy consumption.

(3) Flame Retardancy: Lightweight GMT exhibits excellent flame retardancy. Its combustion rate is well below the 100mm/min requirement specified in the Chinese national standard GB8410-1994. Furthermore, our company's independently developed flame-retardant fiberglass board meets the stringent flame retardancy standards for commercial passenger vehicles.

(4) High Strength: GMT (also known as thermoplastic felt) boasts superior tensile strength, flexural strength, and impact resistance, with performance characteristics that significantly surpass materials like hemp fiberboard, wood powder board, and polyurethane.

(5) Moisture and Mold Resistance: Due to the low water absorption properties of glass fibers, the final products are non-absorbent, do not deform, and are resistant to mold and mildew.

(6) Excellent Insulation and Absorption: Its porous, web-like structure provides excellent sound insulation, sound absorption, shock absorption, and breathability.

(7) Excellent Formability: The material is easy to mold with short cycle times, leading to high production efficiency. It also causes minimal wear and corrosion on molds, making it suitable for stable, large-scale manufacturing.

(8) Superior Mold-Filling Capability: During compression molding, lightweight GMT can expand to over four times its original sheet thickness. This unique property allows for the creation of parts with complex geometries and non-uniform thicknesses.

(9) High Dimensional Stability: Once molded, the parts exhibit no spring-back and maintain excellent dimensional stability. Even after being stored at 150°C for 1,000 hours, the product's performance characteristics show no significant degradation.

Product Applications

Due to its light weight, high impact toughness, ease of molding, short cycle times, and suitability for mass production, GMT material is particularly well-suited for the automotive industry.

1. Bus and Coach Manufacturing: Headliners/ceilings, route display boards, engine compartment covers, battery boxes, window frames, driver's doors, passenger doors, radiator covers, mudguards, dashboards, guardrails, headlight housings, and protective panels.

2. Truck Manufacturing: Cabs, doors, hoods, and bumpers.

3. Four-Wheeled Light Vehicle Manufacturing: Doors, hoods, front covers, radiator fan blades, door handles, headlight housings, axle covers, and dashboards.

4. Motorcycle Manufacturing: Engine side panels, mudguards, luggage racks, cooling fans, and brake levers.

5. Train Manufacturing: Window frames, shutters, axle box covers, battery boxes, lavatory flooring, roof panels, lavatory sinks, distribution boxes, ceiling vents, fan blades, windowsills, and water storage tanks.

It is also used as protective panels in the construction industry and for manufacturing chemical storage containers, reusable crates (turnover boxes), and various containers in the packaging industry.
